Hi, my name is Jiesta. I am a lifelong English learner and user, having studied and used English since childhood. I love everything about English, and I hope to inspire you to feel the same way ;). I have experience in international settings, including serving as a researcher in Malaysia and as a liaison for international researchers at BRIN. My international experience enabled me to gain insight into how English is spoken by native speakers, not just the usage of English taught in classrooms.
I am experienced in IELTS, having scored a band 8 in the IELTS Academic test. I am also familiar with the use of English in academic and professional settings, including scholarship applications, admissions processes, interviews, presentations, reports, and academic writing.
I have experience teaching a range of age groups, from high school students to working professionals at the postgraduate level. I love teaching because it enables me to meet and talk with new people and to inspire people to feel confident in their abilities.
My focus will be on the use of English in communication, both verbal and written. I'll start with an assessment of your current English ability and goals, so do not be discouraged if you are a complete beginner starting at zero, or an advanced user looking to polish your English! I always encourage engagement with my students, so students will have many opportunities to practice their English. I will try my best to provide students with a constructive learning experience, creating a learning space free of judgment and appreciative of progress.
With IELTS training, I have personally improved my IELTS score by 1.5 bands overall. As such, I am experienced with the mechanics of the IELTS exam and can provide you with a personalized strategy tailored to your strengths and weaknesses to help you achieve your desired score.
